Since studying English & German Language and Literature at Heidelberg and Edinburgh Universities I have been teaching language for a variety of organisations, including the Goethe Institute, the Open University, the University of Edinburgh and Glasgow University. Since 2000 I have been a regular affiliate of The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly RSAMD) where I honed my specialist skill of teaching language to singers and other performing artists.

Beyond the conservatoire sector, I have worked with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Chorus, singers Karen Cargill and Andrew McTaggart, conductors Gregory Batsleer, Edward Casswell and Tim Dean (RCS), repetiteurs Amanda Johnston (University of Mississippi), Jonathon Swinard (Staatstheater Nürnberg), Cameron Burns (Staatsoper Hannover) and Dean Wilmington (Joop van den Ende Academy, Hamburg), directors Ashley Dean and William Relton (Co-Opera Co) , and voice teachers Richard Owens (Rollins College, Florida), Barbara Reed-Honn (Arizona) and Cynthia Munzer (USC Thornton School of Music, Los Angeles). Since 2013 I have been the Head of German Language at musiktheater bavaria.

I also translate from English into German and vice versa and my specialism lies in performing arts related texts, e.g. german repertoire, artist biographies and websites, program notes and performance-related academic works. My most recently published translation encompassed Alma and Gustav Mahler song texts for Linn Records.

I am available for tuition and consultation via Skype or Facetime, am generally in Glasgow once a month but also happy to travel. In February 2016 I will be in Edinburgh to rehearse the Brahms Requiem with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Chorus under Gregory Batsleer and Robin Ticciati.

A list of organisations, institutions and individuals I have collaborated with can be found here.
